About Us

Alcohol and drugs are the root cause of almost all of South Africa’s ills: gangsterism, crime, HIV/AIDS, domestic violence, broken homes and unemployment etc., which affect each and every South African. The Western Cape in particular is in an absolute crisis situation from the abuse of alcohol and drugs within poorer communities.

The JAG Foundation’s mentoring, coaching, knowledge and organised physical activity programmes, target alcohol and drugs head-on, by showing the kids of these poorer communities that there is another better healthier life, that can give them hope to escape their surroundings. The programmes also try and place the youth out of reach of gangs and their criminal behaviour.

The JAG Foundation has the expert skills and experience, the national reach (coach the coaches), the transparency and measurement, and the proven success to make this the most efficient and effective use of donor support and funding. Please help us create the change.

Founded in April 2007 and home to South Africa’s most promising athletes, the JAG Foundation is considered one of the leading charitable organisations in the country. The JAG Foundation is spearheaded by ex Olympic athlete, Elana Meyer, and aims to engage children in a programme structure which teaches values and enhances self-esteem, self-discipline, goals, focus and sportsmanship.

Endorsed by South African leading sports stars, including Makhaya Ntini, Ryk Neethling, Jean De Villiers, and Ashwin Willemse, JAG facilitates skills development and educational initiatives through the power of sporting programs within schools and communities.

Funds raised by the JAG Foundation through corporate sponsorships, grants as well as private donations go towards development as well as sustainability of JAG’s initiatives; towards development of children on JAG’s programmes; upliftment of coaches and sports co-ordinators assisting with JAG programmes; transport to events that our children regularly participate in as well as education incentives that children receive as part of goal orientation and objectives building
