The City of Cape Town’s Sport and Recreation Department, in partnership with the Cape Town Tens hosted the Castle Cape Town Tens’ Rugby Tournament for the fourth consecutive year this February.

The popular Castle Cape Town Tens is the brainchild of former Springboks Bob Skinstad and Rob Fleck took place on 3 and 4 February at the Hamiltons Rugby Club in Greenpoint.

The tournament hosted 192 games over four divisions, including the finals. Seventy eight teams from all over South Africa and Australia participated in the tournament.

As part of the event the City of Cape Town and the JAG Foundation transported over 140 children between the ages of 7 and 12 to participate in a rugby Clinic. Rugby Tens legends (Warren Brosnihan, Scott Robertson, Hanyani Shimange, Leon Lloyd, Kieron Dawson, Pieter Muller, Norman Jordaan, Quintin Davids, Jake Boer, Zak Feau-Nati, Bob Skinstad, Robbie Fleck and many more coached the children and teaching them the sport’s various techniques and skills. A once in a lifetime experience for most of the kids and just a little bit of giving back to the communities. All the rugby balls from the tournament were donated to the JAG Foundation. Kids were transported in from Bonteheuwel, Athlone, Franschhoek & Hanover Park
